THE FUTURE OF ICE HOCKEY RINKS IS ENHANCED BY SAPHIR®

In December 2011 Transparent SAPHIR® grade of Polycarbonate was installed in an ice rink construction at the Elmia arena in Jönköping, Sweden. The product offers safety with high level of protection for spectators due to its high impact resistance and excellent optical quality which allows the audience to get closer to the action.

SAPHIR® is a hard-coated polycarbonate sheet designed specifically with optical quality in mind. The high impact strength of polycarbonate is combined with improved weatherability and chemical resistance offering excellent protection against abrasion as well as anti graffiti properties.

Andreas Johansson from Arla Plast was one of the spectators at the game said "the game was amazing with almost 20 000 noisy hockey fans. Linköping played extremely well and fans were able to enjoy the game closer to the action because of the transparent rink and the absence of advertisement on the rink improved the whole experience. It felt like we were in the actual arena with the players, right there during the action."
